Experienced High-Tech Finance Executive Will Help Company Manage Rapid Growth
SAN DIEGO – August 22, 2013 – On-Ramp Wireless, developer of wireless solutions for energy automation and M2M communications, today announced that Scott Hughes, an experienced finance and business planning executive with significant experience in both startup and Fortune 500 environments, has joined the company as Vice President of Finance. In his role, Mr. Hughes will oversee On-Ramp’s financial, investor relations, and human resources functions. Mr. Hughes brings over 23 years of experience to the company, with a strong knowledge of the enterprise hardware networking segment and semiconductor design lifecycle. He also brings deep experience in international markets, specifically Asia, which is a focus area for company growth.

Mr. Hughes has held numerous executive roles throughout his career. He joins On-Ramp from RealEC Corporation where he was senior vice president of operations. Prior to that Mr. Hughes was chief financial officer for Solarflare, a designer of high speed networking equipment. At Solarflare he was responsible for the company’s finance, human resources, legal, and information technology functions. He led the closing of over $200 million in financing from venture capital and strategic sources. He also negotiated and led the sale of Solarflare’s PHY business to Marvel Technology Group and played a key role in their 2006 merger with L5 Networks.
Earlier in his career Mr. Hughes held executive level positions in both operations and human resources at Quantum, Western Digital and Hewitt Associates (acquired by AON). He was also an entrepreneur and co-founded a digital media startup. Mr. Hughes has both a Masters and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University.
